India beat England in the final day of the 2nd test in Visakhapatnam by a healthy margin of 246 runs. Virat Kohli – Ravichandran Ashwin were the stars of the match with bat and ball respectably for India.

Virat Kohli – Cheteshwar Pujara tons in the 1st innings put India off to a great start. They made 455 batting 4 sessions. In reply England in their 1st innings could only get to 255, credit to Ben Stokes’ stand up knock of 70. Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow both made fifty. Ravichandran Ashwin with the ball troubled England. He picked up 5.

In the 3rd innings, skipper Kohli again made 81 for India. Stuart Broad and Adil Rashid tried to held India back and got them out at 204. Broad and Rashid picked up 4 each.

England with a target of 405 in the 4th innings, started off well with Alastair Cook and Haseeb Hameed. The opening stand between these two was of 75. Unfortunately for England, wickets started to fall like a bunch of domino chips. England was bowled out at 158. England lost the last 9 wickets within 83 runs. This never happened in more than a century to England.

Ashwin picked up 3 in the last innings as well. Debutant Jayant Yadav picked up the last two wickets and sealed the match for India.

India won the match by 246 runs. Virat Kohli was awarded man of the match because of his ton in the 1st innings and an 81 in the 2nd. India are leading the series at 1-0
