‘Umpire’s call’ broke Tuesday! Pakistani Opener Azhar Ali got a funny run out and again got life against Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). Actually, third umpire erroneously press the wrong button as he claimed.

Azhar Ali is on the way of breaking history. He needs only 39 runs to break 44 years highest individual run in Australia and against Australia Pakistan in any test match. This strange incident took place just when he was batting unbeaten on 93.

Asad Shafiq, took strike to face the last ball before drinks during session one. He hit the ball straight drive past Jackson Bird. But the Aussie managed to get the ball and threw it back to the stumps, to where Azhar was running. The ball hit directly on stumps but Pak batsman had already reached in the crease.

As usual, Australian team appealed for out and the on-field Indian umpire S Ravi went up to the third umpire to check. Expectedly, the replays suggested that Ali had grounded his bat into the crease comfortably, well before the ball dislodged the bails at the non-striker’s end.

Then the drama came out! Accidentally, third umpire Richard Illingworth pressed the ‘Out’ button! Realizing his mistake within a blink of an eye he gave the right knock ‘Not Out’. Anyhow, the funny incident showered the whole gallery with laughing and cheering including all the Aussies.

At the end of the 2nd day, Azhar went to the dressing room with unbeaten 139 runs.
