Bangladesh tour of New Zealand 2016-17

NEW ZEALAND v BANGLADESH

3rd ODI, Nelson

New Zealand sweeps away the ODI series all the way against Bangladesh by today’s comfortable win at Nelson.

Like last match, Bangladesh started off really well today too. The opening stand between Tamim Iqbal and Imrul Kayes was of 102, before Imrul departed for 44. After this breakthrough, Bangladesh again lost a cluster of wickets in quick time. Though Tamim stayed on and made fifty, the others didn’t last long in the crease. From 102-1, Bangladesh was down to 179-7 within a span of 20 overs.

Whereas they lost no wicket in the first twenty overs, in the next twenty they lost seven! Young keeper Nurul Hasan who was brought in due to Mushfiqur Rahim’s injury, made 44 off 39 in the end to give Bangladesh a final total of 236.

New Zealand batting started off a little abruptly. Tom Latham was dismissed by Mustafizur on the second over and Martin Guptill was injured and retired not out. However, after these slight distortions, Williamson and Broom handled the situation in an appraisable way.

Williamson-Broom duo brought 179 runs, before Mustafizur sent back Broom at 97, so close to what could’ve been his second ODI ton. New Zealand was almost home by the fall of second wicket. They needed only 42 more to win off more than 15 overs.

Williamson and Neesham finished the rest of the job without losing any more wickets with 52 balls in hand. Skipper Kane Williamson was unbeaten at 95 and was awarded man of the match.

New Zealand sweeps away the ODI series by 3-0 with this comfortable win by 8 wickets.
