Failing to reform the country’s body of Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Supreme Court ordered to remove Anurag Thakur from his position. Indian Supreme Court also remove Ajay Shirke from secretary.
Indian highest court orders it in Monday. The Court also issued a show cause notice to Thakur and Shirke pertaining to charges of perjury and contempt of Court.
The ruling panel of court said, ‘The Supreme Court passes an order directing the BCCI president and secretary to desist from any board functions from here on.’
Anurag Thakur, the ‘Ex’ president of BCCI welcomed the order of Supreme Court. In a video message on social media he said that, ‘I respect the Supreme Court as any citizen should. Supreme Court judges feel that BCCI could do better under retired judges; I wish them all the best. I am sure Indian cricket will do well under their guidance.’
BCCI is one of the wealthiest cricket board in the world. But it has also been embroiled in match fixing in Indian Premier League (IPL), corruption of board members and others many scandals. . Last year, England national cricket team toured in India, but Lodha’s committee gave restrictions on BCCI’s account, that’s why board faced problem to bear cost of English team.
All allegations were investigated by Lodha (Rajnedra Lodha) committee. Lodha said about this incident, Thakur’s removal was an inevitable consequence of the board’s foot-dragging.
